Located in the heart of Los Chacalles, the Rope by La Vigilia Restaurant captivates with its sober lines and contemporary language. A bet of GO&V Arquitectos.
Like an obligatory impasse in the middle of a dreamlike landscape, Rope Restaurant by La Vigilia sits serenely. With a privileged location in The Vines of Mendoza, Tunuyán, and on the gentle topography of the Andean foothills, the warmth and imprint of the restaurant connects its visitors with the imposing nature and views. An architectural project by GO&V Arquitectos.
The architecture of the place is resolved on a single level, with a contained horizontal volumetry that dialogues in balance with the vastness of the surroundings, and precisely frames the Andes Mountains as a natural scenic backdrop.
The use of hydro-washed concrete pigmented in earth color, and Corten steel (oxidized, matte, telluric) also allows the building to emerge as a mineral, almost organic piece.
An articulated axial axis leads to the entrance and organizes the route, accentuating the experience of arrival as a ritual transition between the landscape and the interior. A plan whose program is intended for sixty diners, and whose interior space continues the serene gesture of the architecture, with an austere yet warm palette. This is achieved through exposed concrete, natural woods and fine textiles.
The view is lost to the outside, from a warm interior in Rope Restaurant, connecting even (from various livings in external decks) a memorable dining experience, with views that intoxicate the senses.
The interior spatiality is contained and visually open, with large glazed planes that dissolve the limits between the interior and the landscape.
The lighting was designed to accompany the leisurely pace of the dining experience, without competing with the absolute prominence of the surroundings. “Every detail has been conceived to foster an atmosphere of meditation, contemplation and sensory enjoyment,” said the restaurant.
